Revivals: The Azusa Street Revival

In the spring of 1906, something extraordinary was happening at a rundown building on 312 Azusa Street in Los Angeles. People gathered day and night, praying, worshiping, and experiencing the power of God in ways they had only read about in Scripture. Phenomenal things were happening. For instance, one evening, neighbors saw flames leaping from the roof—bright, flickering, supernatural fire. Alarmed, they called the fire department.

Firefighters rushed to the scene, but when they arrived, there was no fire—only the sound of worship rising from within. This happened more than once. Eyewitnesses described flames shooting up from the building while a separate column of fire descended from the sky, the two meeting above the roof.

It was as if heaven itself had come down. Heaven became accessible, close enough to touch! The fire wasn't natural—it was holy. And it marked one of the greatest spiritual awakenings in modern history: The Azusa Street Revival.
